More notes and studies from Hampton's figure drawing book. It's more clear now how repetition is used to slow down the eye over the torso. I still have problems applying it correctly, though. :stupidme:

Photoshop CS6, Intuos 5 with art pen.

lol yeah for one reason or another he's got like a pen name or something, I took classes with him and he was Steve Hampton then.
It's cool randomly finding other people learning from him XD I always liked his system.

Haha, that's odd--he only changed his first name, and to something pretty common, no less? At any rate, the classes must have been an amazing experience; I'm envious. :D

yeah I know, and I know it's the same guy too, just...yeah *shrug* who knows.
but yeah the classes were great, I didn't finish at that school, but the stuff from his classes probably stuck with me the most.

I just bought Hampton's book at the beginning of Sept. and it's nice to see more gesture examples.

If anything, I would love to see more gesture examples from you. :) It looks like you got the hang of it.

Thanks for the kind words. :) The book is excellent so far, but it needs to be read carefully and the sample drawings bear close examination. When it's not obvious how to apply what the text suggests, I find the Vilppu videos very useful for observing the process. Have you used the book yet? I would love to see any resulting pieces. 8-)

I haven't used the book yet; I keep going over the text back and forth so I can rote it to memory. But I agree that using the Vilppu gesture vids do help; It was years ago when I watched them; should pull them out again!
